2. Who Can Use SalePlate

By using SalePlate, you represent that:

3. What SalePlate Is — and Is Not

What SalePlate provides

SalePlate is an AI-powered meal planning tool that:

  • Generates weekly meal plans based on your dietary preferences, nutrition targets, and current grocery store sale prices
  • Provides shopping lists based on your meal plan and pantry contents
  • Tracks pantry inventory and calculates estimated grocery savings

⚠️ Important health and nutrition disclaimer

SalePlate is not a medical service, nutritional counselling service, or healthcare provider.

Meal plans generated by SalePlate are produced by artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude) based on general nutritional guidelines and your self-reported profile information. They are intended as a general planning tool only and are not tailored to specific medical conditions, allergies, medications, or individual health circumstances.

SalePlate meal plans are not a substitute for advice from a registered dietitian, physician, or other qualified health professional.

Do not use SalePlate as a replacement for professional medical or nutritional advice. If you have a medical condition, food allergy, eating disorder, or specific health concern, consult a qualified healthcare provider before following any meal plan.

Calorie and nutrition calculations use the Mifflin-St Jeor formula and Health Canada Dietary Reference Intakes as a general framework. Individual metabolic rates vary. The nutritional values shown are estimates and may not perfectly reflect the actual nutritional content of the specific products you purchase.

By using SalePlate, you acknowledge and accept full responsibility for your dietary choices and health outcomes.

Grocery sale data

Sale prices shown in SalePlate are entered manually from publicly available grocery flyers and are updated weekly. SalePlate makes no guarantee that:

  • Sale prices are current at the time you shop
  • Items shown as on sale are available at your specific store location
  • Prices shown exactly match what you will pay at checkout

Always verify prices at the store. SalePlate is not responsible for any discrepancy between displayed sale prices and actual store prices.

4. Your Account

Account creation

You may create an account using an email address and password, or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.

Account termination by you

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed within 30 days as described in our Privacy Policy.

Account suspension or termination by us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we determine that you have:

  • Violated these Terms
  • Used the Service in a way that could harm SalePlate or other users
  • Provided false or misleading information during registration
  • Attempted to circumvent subscription limits, billing, or access controls
  • Engaged in abusive, harassing, or illegal behaviour

If your account is terminated for a violation, you are not entitled to a refund of any paid subscription fees.

5. Subscription Plans and Billing

Available plans

SalePlate offers the following plans:

  • 1 meal plan generation per rolling 7-day period
  • Cook-fresh mode only
  • Access to 2–3 featured cuisines
  • Sale-based meal planning (included for all users)
  • Basic pantry tracking

Paid plan — $8 CAD per month:

  • 3 meal plan generations per rolling 7-day period (then $1 CAD per additional generation, billed on your next invoice)
  • Meal prep mode
  • All cuisines
  • Full pantry tracking
  • Eating-out planning

Founding Member plan — $4 CAD per month:

  • All benefits of the Paid plan

Billing

Subscriptions are billed monthly on the date you first subscribed. Billing is handled by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize SalePlate to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel.

Overage charges ($1 CAD per generation beyond your plan's included count) are accumulated during the billing period and added as a single line item on your next monthly invoice — not charged separately per generation.

Price changes

We reserve the right to change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. Founding Member rates are locked for the lifetime of an uninterrupted subscription and are not subject to price changes. If you cancel a Founding Member subscription and later resubscribe, the locked rate no longer applies and you will be billed at the then-current rate.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period — you retain access to paid features until then. Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund for the current billing period. See our Refund Policy for full details.

6. Referral Program

SalePlate may offer a referral program that grants temporary access to Paid features for both the referrer and the referred user when a new user signs up via your referral link and completes onboarding. Referral rewards are granted at our discretion and may be modified or discontinued at any time. Attempting to abuse the referral program (e.g. creating fake accounts to generate rewards) will result in account termination.

7. Intellectual Property

AI-generated meal plans

Meal plans generated by SalePlate are produced by AI. We do not claim copyright over AI-generated meal plan content. You are free to use your generated meal plans for personal purposes.

You agree to indemnify and hold SalePlate harmless from any claims, losses, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of the Service in a way that causes harm to a third party.
